BIOGRAPHY

Hi everyone! My name is Nick and I am currently a senior focusing my studies on Transportation Engineering here at Illinois. Having grown up in the Chicago area, I’ve always been one to geek out about aviation, trains, bridges, and roads, and I can’t wait to start applying what I’ve learned so far and designing some cool pieces of infrastructure after I graduate. Aside from my studies, a large portion of my time in the fall goes towards practicing and performing with the Marching Illini Drumline as a snare drummer. I have been drumming for 12 years (both drumset, concert and marching percussion) and it is definitely a passion of mine that I plan to continue pursuing well after I graduate! In my free time I like to delve into photography, cooking cool new meals, and playing video games.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

When I was very young, both my grandparents on my dad’s side were diagnosed with lung cancer. Unfortunately, they both passed soon after their diagnoses. As a result, I was very involved in Relay for Life in middle and high school on behalf of my grandparents. I participated year after year in the hope that, in the future, no child has to experience losing close members of their family to cancer and no grandparent has to give up their life before they can watch their grandkids grow up. I am excited to fight the good fight as a member of the 2018 Bike America team, and I look forward to doing everything I can to help those battling cancer directly and indirectly.
