BIOGRAPHY

Hey everyone! My name is Logan, and I am a senior this year in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I grew up on a small farm located just outside of Reddick, Illinois, so I love the outdoors and agriculture! As for involvement on campus, I am an avid sports fan, and I serve on the executive board for Illini Pride, the RSO that runs the student sections at all the sporting events on campus! I have also been involved in the Engineering Open House that takes place during March to help showcase the College of Engineering. I am a great dancer as long as no one is watching, and my shower head is the biggest fan of my singing skills. I am very excited to participate in this year's ride, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to help raise funds towards cancer research. Just as my bio picture appears, I want YOU to help support Illini 4000 and join us in our fight against cancer.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am from a family of six and have one older brother and sister along with one younger sister. My older sister, Jordan, was a part of the Illini 4000 Bike America Team in the summer of 2013, and she helped inspire me to apply for the ride this summer. I am very thankful to have the support of my family to participate in this ride! I am riding for my grandmother, Linda Tarr, and grandfather, Robert Orr, who both had to battle cancer, as well as all of those who are affected directly and indirectly every day by this terrible disease. My grandmother passed away from multiple myeloma when I was little, and my grandfather fought with prostate cancer for about 15 years before passing away from a stroke. There is nothing worse than having to watch one of your loved ones suffer through cancer and the treatments that are currently used to fight it. I know that we all can help defeat cancerous diseases and develop ways in which we can target cancerous tissue and treat it without damaging other healthy tissue within the body. I want to use this ride to help make an impact nationwide in the fight against cancer!
