BIOGRAPHY
Hello! My name is Jessica Fornek and I am a freshman majoring in statistics at the University of Illinois. I absolutely love adventures and traveling, so I’m stoked to experience some of that during this trip. I also play guitar, or I like to say I do. I have been teaching myself using YouTube for just over a year now, but it is one of my favorite pastimes. Other than that, I love listening to music, especially live, and relaxing outside in a hammock on a nice day. I am super excited to be a part of this incredible team and bike across America!
PERSONAL STATEMENT
My ride is dedicated to my mom and brother who have both survived cancer and continue to inspire me everyday, as well as countless other people connected to my family who have faced the struggles of cancer. Fortunately, cancer treatments have helped cure or prolong many of their lives, and for that we can be thankful. Because I have seen how emerging research and increased support for families affected by cancer has had a major positive impact, I recognize how important it is to stay persistent in the fight against cancer. There is still significant progress to be made, so I am very grateful for this opportunity to honor those in my life as well as make a difference in the lives of many across the country!
