BIOGRAPHY

Hi! My name is Patrick Jamison. I am currently a freshman studying Psychology at the U of I. I grew up in Urbana so being in a familiar place has really helped me adjust during my first year. I am a member of the Marching Illini Mellophones as well as English Corner and Kappa Kappa Psi. In my free time I enjoy playing tennis, watching Formula One, and riding my bike. I only learned how to ride a bike this past June so it's a bit of a surprise for me that I'm going to be biking across the country less than a year after that. I am so excited to be a part of the 2020 team! This year has been absolutely incredible for me so far and I can't wait to make even more memories with all of my teammates next summer!

PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am dedicating my ride to my Omi (grandmother). A few years ago she had to have one of her thumbs amputated to stop the spread of cancer to the rest of her body. Since then she has had two cancer scares. One being the return of the cancer that was in her thumb and the other being a colon cancer scare. By doing I4K, I not only get to show my support for her and the millions of other people that have been affected by cancer but I also get to help in the fight against cancer. Cancer is a horrible disease but positive things can come from it and I hope to be able to highlight those things from the stories we collect for the Portraits Project this summer.
