Day 9: Buffalo, NY to Westfield, NY-- Lake Erie!

Lunch on Dunkirk Pier (featuring Gibby)

Lunch on Dunkirk Pier (featuring Gibby)

What a great day for riding— 61, sunny, and lakeshore roads! Today is our last full day in New York; I’m going to miss this state! We rode past a lot of vineyards today and had a decent amount of tailwinds. Only 60 miles, so a quick and simple ride with a couple stops just for fun to enjoy the lake (and Tops, which is apparently the standard grocery store here. Huh!)

For lunch we stopped at Dunkirk Pier, which was not only beautiful because of the view but also because we met an amazing woman who told us her story about being an advocate for a family member with cancer. As if this day couldn’t have been any better!

We got to the stayover pretty early and many of us headed to the lake to brave the cold water and jump in. Others ventured to the nearby mountain or went to explore the little town of Westfield.

After dinner, we headed to the beach to see the sunset over the water and are now ready for PA and to go camping for the first time on the trip! Sleeping well tonight, for sure!
