Day 21: Bourbonnais, IL to Elmhurst, IL-- Chicagoland!

Woohoo!! 57 miles North of Bourbonnais, and we’re here! Chicago(ish)! Today was hotter than yesterday in terms of actual temperatures, but it didn’t feel as bad, likely due to the shorter distance (so less riding in the afternoon heat) and slight tailwinds in the first half. We pushed to get some miles under our belt in the morning air, and by the time we reached Elmhurst it was over 91 degrees! Today felt more like a “business” ride— we didn’t have any fun stops planned, and only had one actual rest stop (besides for water) since it was only 57 miles. It was one of those days where we just aim to get it done. And we did!

We arrived with plenty of time to relax and eat ice cream and curly fries. Our next two days of rest and re-packing bags (we’ve got too much stuff!) are going to be great, and thank you to the Niewiara family for hosting us this evening! Next post will be on Monday, June 14 for day 23 as we ride out of Chicago!
