Biography

Hi everyone!! My name is Olivia Ross and I’m super excited to be this year’s ride leader! After finishing the ride in August, I was left with a summer full of incredible memories, life changing experiences, and teammates who feel like family. I feel so grateful that I get to help make sure this team has an amazing summer, as well. I’m currently a sophomore studying psychology, with plans to pursue a masters in occupational therapy. Outside of Illini 4000, I love to read, hike, and travel!

Personal Statement

Last year I rode for my Nana (Jan Derrico) and Papa (Tom Derrico). Whenever days would be tough on the ride, I would always think of them to get me through. Thinking of how they would have loved to participate in something like Illini 4000 and the way they fearlessly lived their lives stuck with me every single day. I hope to continue to honor them through this ride. However, getting to already have done the ride once I would love to dedicate this ride to all of cancer survivors, nurses, doctors and families that we met last summer. I can’t fully express how changed my life is having heard their stories, and I want them to know that I will always be thankful for their vulnerability and their strength.
