BIOGRAPHY

Hello! My name is Eleena Ahmed, and I am a senior in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Growing up in Barrington, IL and later moving abroad to the Middle East, I have been involved in volunteer work and service throughout high school and college, and am excited to continue this work through I4K and beyond. I am also a part of choir and student government on campus, through which I've had the opportunity to build skills in teamwork and collaboration. Apart from this, I really enjoy helping out at our campus bike shop and going to the movies when I have the chance, as well as spending time traveling around the country and all over the world. I am excited to continue this journey with I4K, and explore the US and its many communities and cultures through this ride. By being a part of the 2020 team, I look forward to educating myself and others on the experiences of individuals affected by cancer all over the country.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

As a student hoping to work in healthcare and in the service of diverse and underrepresented populations through my profession, I think that I4K provides an opportunity to learn firsthand the way that cancer impacts communities all over the country, as well as how this experience is unique to each individual by hearing their distinct stories. By then sharing these stories, I hope to work with my team members to empower those also going through hardship and share the insights that we gain with others. Additionally, by raising donations throughout this year, I hope that I can use my resources in support of cancer research and actively addressing the challenges that we learn about through the ride.
