BIOGRAPHY

Hi everyone! My name is Erin and I am a senior from Batavia, Illinois. I'm studying Bioengineering here, and am planning on beginning a Ph.D. in BioE next fall. Over my time on campus, I have been involved in research, the Biomedical Engineering Society, Model United Nations, and now Illini 4000! I enjoy hammocking, reading, and intramural soccer. I'm incredibly excited to participate in this year's ride exploring the country, learning, making connections, and supporting the fight against cancer!

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. Despite advancements to cancer therapies, there is still a long way to go in the efforts to cure this disease. Personally, I have seen several family members battle cancer, and their strength and courage has been truly inspiring. The physical challenge of riding for 4000 miles is nothing compared to that, which I hope to remember throughout my journey. I am riding to show my support for survivors, and everyone else who has been impacted in some way by cancer. I am grateful for the opportunity Illini 4000 has given me to help make an impact in the larger goal of finding a cure.
