BIOGRAPHY

Hello! My name is Sam Tatar and I am currently a senior studying Materials Science and Engineering with a focus on metallurgy. I have a strong interest in additive manufacturing, which I will be working with post-graduation. In my free time, I enjoying reading, baking and making ice cream (my chocolate chip cookies are the best), and playing music. I’ve been playing piano since I was four and I also play steel drums in the U of I Steel Band. Because of internships, co-ops, and study abroad, I haven’t lived in the same city for more than four months at a time in the past four years, which has instilled in me a passion for travelling and a desire to see more of this world we live in. I’m super excited to get the opportunity to ride my bike across the country this summer, see the states in a way not many people get to experience, meet some great people, and raise money and awareness for a great cause.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am riding for every person who has been affected by cancer, whether it be personally or through watching a friend or loved one fight the battle. The effects of this disease are widespread and almost everyone has encountered it in some way, shape, or form. I will work to raise the funds and awareness necessary for fighting this disease and building a community based on hope and support.
