BIOGRAPHY
Hello! My name is Collin McKeough and I am currently a sophomore majoring in accounting at the University of Illinois. I grew up in Naperville, IL and am the oldest in my family, with two younger brothers and one younger sister. My family has been so supportive of everything I do, and I am so grateful for the opportunities that they have provided me. Together we have experienced adventure, whether it be traveling around the country or simply spending time up at the lake. I love spending time outdoors, especially on the water, and am a huge sports fan (Go Cubs!). On campus I am involved with Illinois Sports Business Conference, Legacy, and work as a student-manager for the Illinois football team.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Everyone has been affected by cancer in some way. Whether it be a family member, friend, or even oneself, we have all seen and felt the impacts of this terrible disease. I personally have had several family members and friends fight battles with cancer. One person I am riding for this summer is my grandfather, Mike McKeough, who passed away following his battle with cancer in 2011. Despite the suffering he endured he always had a positive outlook on life and would bring a smile to anyone’s face. This fight, and hope, is something that is not just unique to my grandfather. Cancer patients and survivors show us the power to fight and hope every day. If they can fight, why can’t we? We all have a role to play in the fight against cancer. That is what has inspired me to participate in Illini 4000 and bike across the country. I am honored to ride for my grandfather and do my small part in the larger fight to end the terrible disease of cancer.
