BIOGRAPHY

My name is Qianzhu Luo. I spent most of my life in Wuhan, China until August 26, 2009 when I flew all across the world to Chicago and started my college life in U of I at Urbana-Champaign. It was a completely new life for me. New faces, diverse culture, different language. It's hard, but full of excitements. As a child, I spent most of my vacations travelling around China. So, I can't wait to start this new journey. This will be the best summer ever!

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Unfortunately, about 1500 people die each day in the America due to cancer, and 3,400 people are diagnosed with cancer each day in the U.S. Cancer affects every single person in the world regardless of race, gender or age. When I was six, my grandpa died of cancer. He was the first person I knew died. Even though my memory faded, I can still remember how terrible this was to my family. So I always think that we need more people to fight cancer. Illini 4000 is founded by a group of people who are willing to fight cancer. And I'm glad of being a part of it. If my ride across America can help one people who suffer from cancer, then it's worth doing!
